ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)
ESL sessions are One-on-one meetings and are for Dumont residents.*
*Please note: There is currently a waitlist for one-on-one tutoring.

Interested students must register for the program in-person. Scheduling an appointment to complete the registration is strongly suggested.
Attend ESL sessions and learn English

In conjunction with the Literacy Volunteers of Pascack Valley (LVPV), the Dixon Homestead Library offers ESL tutoring sessions for Dumont residents who wish to learn or improve English as a Second Language.
Please note: All tutors are volunteers. Students should contact their assigned tutor when a session must be cancelled.
What is included in the ESL program?
Individual tutoring from beginner to advanced levels, customized to the individual student.
Weekly tutoring sessions at the Library.
All materials are provided to the students.
An ESL resource collection for students and tutors to borrow with their library card.
A beginner conversation class facilitated by a tutor for students that want to practice conversation skills.
Group classes from Westwood Library.
Interested in becoming a tutor?
Individuals who would like to become volunteer tutors should inquire about the Tutor Training Workshops that are offered by LVPV on a quarterly basis through Westwood Public Library. Following the completion of this ten-hour training course, tutors are matched with a student and will be assigned a tutoring schedule based on their availability and will be given a space in the Library to meet.
